Description

Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. The Glenfarclas 22 Years Old “The Spirit of the Millennium” is a special official bottling released around the year 2000 to mark the turn of the millennium. Limited to approximately 2,000 bottles, this expression has become a sought-after collector's piece from the iconic Speyside distillery Glenfarclas.

Nose
Highly expressive, opening with apricot jam and honey, followed by gentle caramel, fudge and a discreet meaty richness from the sherry casks, without being overtly sherried. Also a big hit of red grapes, bright sherry, a slight lemon note, some fresh tobacco.
Palate
Round and creamy, dominated by honey, sultanas, toffee and nougat, with hints of old sweet white wine and a subtle saline touch. Fruit, honey and wax again, with a quite complex palate and freshness.
Finish
Long and warming, evolving into buttered fudge, dark toffee and a faint echo of strawberry jam. A beautifully balanced and elegant whisky.
