Description

One of the oldest distilleries within Speyside, and still in family hands since it was founded, the Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Speyside's independent whisky producers. The Grant family has been running Glenfarclas since 1860, producing an individual Speyside malt. This is a second release of 1967 Glenfarclas as part of their Family Casks series, matured in a sherry cask to a punchy strength of 58.7%.

Nose
Spicy and a little alcoholic, opening up to big sherry, oranges, grand marnier, wood spices, ginger, and pinewood. Fruity, with kirsch, brandied fruitcake, and dark chocolate.
Palate
Full-bodied and powerful, with bitter blood oranges, java cake, grand marnier, very sticky and robust. Very nutty, with a meaty undertow, leathery and bold. Berries, spice, rubber, and pepper.
Finish
Long, building, bringing back sensations from the nose, with a divine length and just a tad bitterness. Dry, spicy, and oaky.
