Description
Considered among the finest of the Speyside malt distilleries and one of the few of its age to still be family-owned. J&G Grant became its sole shareholders in 1898 and continue to run it in a traditional manner, notably using direct-fired stills to create a rich, weighty spirit. This is the 20th edition of 'The Famous Scots Edition' series, also known as 'The Spirit of Independence', honoring James Clerk Maxwell, a pivotal figure in physics. Distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2016, this 28-year-old single malt was matured in selected sherry casks and released as a limited edition of 2,400 bottles. [3, 7, 8]
