It was finished in fine, aged Madeira wine casks, celebrating the pioneering spirit of Portuguese explorers in the 15th Century. Deep earthy aromas of sweet ripe fig and orange marmalade, with bright notes of fresh gooseberries and grapes. Also hints of moss, fresh juicy pears, tangy orange, sweet Madeira wine, and fruitcake.
Palate
Rich and spicy, with cinnamon and crushed black pepper, caramelised fruits, crystallised ginger, raisins, and hints of dry oak. Light bodied, sweet, fresh, and spicy with a silky smooth texture.
Finish
Pleasingly dry with warmth that fades into a lingering sweet marmalade finish. Medium length, with slightly drying spicy oak, cinnamon, and nutty notes.
