Description

The Glenglassaugh distillery has had a turbulent history since being founded by James Moir in 1873; opening and closing no less than 7 times in 125 years. Always popular with blenders, single malt releases were limited for most of its very irregular working life. Currently owned by the BenRiach Distillery Company, which purchased the distillery in 2013, the distillery's focus is now firmly on the single malt. This 19 Year Old bottling is one of the last official bottlings of Glenglassaugh from former owners Edrington Group, distilled in 1986, the year the distillery was mothballed.

Nose
Gentle notes of honey, ripe apple and peach, lifted by floral hints and a touch of marzipan. Tropical fruits and soft spice add extra layers of complexity. Old dessert wine, toffee and vanilla in the background. With a little water more emerges – milk chocolate, orange, dried apricot.
Palate
Creamy and layered with flavors of apricot, vanilla and toffee, balanced by light citrus and a subtle spiced edge. The oak influence is refined and harmonious. Warm on the tongue with sherried sweetness. With water – The cinnamon dough with nutmeg to balance it. Then getting fruitier with a hint of dried fruit. Buttery wood.
Finish
Long, smooth and elegant with fruity freshness, a touch of oak and a warm honeyed sweetness. A rare and unique Glenglassaugh that not only showcases the distillery's style but also serves as a farewell to a closed chapter in its history. Mild and quite long from the warming alcohol.
