Description

The Glenglassaugh 50 Year Old is an extremely old and rare Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, matured for half a century in a single Pedro Ximénez sherry cask. It was bottled in 2021 at 40.1% ABV, with only 264 bottles released globally. The distillery, located in the eastern Highland region, has a turbulent history, including periods of closure, and was revived in 2008. This expression was selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie and is presented in a bespoke presentation box.

Nose
Deep, seductive layers of sweet almond frangipane, figs and blackberry, carried on a wave of ocean spice, toasted oak and salted honeycomb. Prunes, figs, salted caramel, white pepper and citrus peels.
Palate
A complex symphony of cassis and soft exotic fruits with rolling waves of papaya, mango and cherry. Mellow oak and yellow plum, dark Mediterranean fruits, vanilla pod, nutmeg, dark chocolate, and caramelized orange.
Finish
Soft lingering finish of caramelized pear, pineapple and pomegranate, beautifully intertwined with almond and refined oak; on a gentle ocean breeze.
