Description

The Glenglassaugh distillery has had a turbulent history since being founded by James Moir in 1873; opening and closing no less than 7 times in 125 years. Always popular with blenders, single malt releases were limited for most of its very irregular working life. Currently owned by the BenRiach Distillery Company, which purchased the distillery in 2013, the distillery's focus is now firmly on the production of single malt. This Glenglassaugh 2010 10 Year Old Rare Cask #2140 is a UK Exclusive bottling, distilled in June 2010 and matured in a single Oloroso sherry puncheon for a decade before being bottled in 2021. It is part of the Rare Cask Release series, with an outturn of 713 bottles.

Nose
Ginger biscuits, apple pastries, booze soaked sultanas, bold, malty oak. Elegant smoke interwoven with red cherry and berry fruits, dusted with cocoa and ground coffee.
Palate
Candied orange peels, sweet berries, a touch of tropical melon, and caramelised pineapple with a whiff of peppermint. Intense vanilla ice cream and sweet pineapple pieces, with coconut milk and lingering banana liqueur. Layers of vanilla, honey, and rich malt sweetness.
Finish
Floral barley, vanilla toffee, slightly waxy with sweet, sherried oak, and dried herbs. Long and smooth with lingering oak and spice.
