Description

A Highland malt distillery located in Dumgoyne, a small village to the north of Glasgow. For over a century it was synonymous with the blenders, Lang Brothers, however it was acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2003 and has been transformed into a highly-regarded single malt brand.

Nose
Very mature, intense and still soft! Dark red marmalade again, with more sherry oak and less sugar than what the 25 had; typical sherry cocoa; marzipan and rum raisins; maybe some leather and furniture polish.
Palate
Hmm, cocoa with red berries and ... a mouth-watering sweetness that brings a literal wave of raspberries with it. If you weren't paying attention to this whisky, it will come and get it from you. Later sips focus more on the sherry, including the typical soft coating on the palate and - yes - here comes the sugar. Very likeable, honestly.
Finish
Black tea with rock candy, more raisins and leather, drying towards the end, and some... coconut? Yes, definitely: there is some coconut flavor in my mouth! Surprising, but rather welcome.
