Description

The former flagship brand of Perth-based independent bottler, Decadent Drinks, and the catalyst for the company itself to be founded. Released between 2019 and 2024, its catalogue totalled 220 bottles over 100 editions and each were thematically labelled based on Angus MacRaild's Whisky Sponge blog. Decadent Drinks Ltd is a Perth-based independent bottler that was established in 2019 by Angus MacRaild and Iain McClune. This particular release, Edition No. 93, is a 12-year-old Speyside single malt, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024. It was matured in a combination of a first-fill barrel and a first-fill sherry hogshead.

Nose
Impressive and charming. Totally vibrant with juicy nectarines, oranges, darker blackberries and raisins. Floral touches (rose petals), fresh oak shavings, cedary notes, ginger, subtle vanilla, and a bit of coconut. American oak left a nice footprint, with sherry highlighting the fruits.
Palate
Medium-full bodied and gentle arrival. Raspberries and cherries, forest fruit jam, orange peels, tangerine, crystallized pineapple. Honeycomb, white pepper, gingery notes, cinnamon, and mild toffee. Notes of stewed orchard fruit, honeycomb and praline.
Finish
Impressive length, very unique and complex. Quite long, with sherry spice, raisin sweetness and hints of oak polish. Nutty sustained finish that leans on wood. Blackberry, dark chocolate, black pepper, saffron, cumin, and cured meat prosciutto at the tail end.
