Description

The first distillery to take out a licence after the Excise Act of 1823, the distillery was a favourite of King George IV who demanded nothing but Glenlivet during a visit to Edinburgh in 1821 - three years before it was legal! Glenlivet has given its name to the 'longest valley in Scotland', so called after several distilleries laid claim to the Glenlivet suffix to cash in on the distillery's ste... This expression is selectively finished in Cognac casks for a rich and intense taste, inspired by Captain William Smith Grant, great-grandson of the distillery's founder, George Smith. Nose
Sweet and fruity aromas of honey and apricot jam, with notes of sweet cinnamon bread and subtle sensation of spicy liquorice, along with floral and fruity aromas, dried raisin, peach jam, creamy, waxy quality, baked apple, citrus, vanilla, and grape juice.
Palate
Succulent flavours of mandarins in syrup, ripe poached pears and chocolate-dipped raisins, also creamy, dry raisin, cooked apples and pears, citrus zest, anise, milk chocolate, pepperiness, orchard fruits, caramel sauce, deep dark fruits, stewed berries, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
Finish
Incredibly smooth and luscious, with medium length, dry raisin, apricot and peach notes, slight pepperiness, cooked apple and pear elements, chocolate, herbal twist, nuts, mild oakiness, and a medium to long spicy finish with fruity and oaky notes.
