Description

One of the best-known names in Speyside, the distillery was founded in 1859 by George Smith and remained family-owned until the 1970s when acquired by Seagram. It is today the crown jewel of the Pernod Ricard portfolio and one of the best-selling single malt brands globally.

Nose
Blast off with oloroso sherry. Nutty. Very grape oriented note and slightly astringent. Dried apricots, dates, rich amber honey. Its fruity-solventy. Woody and spicy with the spice even dipping into the floral realm. Clove and then orange zest/peel hits. Its dry, but its big, bold and juicy on fruit notes.
Palate
Honey matches right up, gentle and light on the palate yet full bodied. Floral. Orange. Kick of spice. This is dry.
Finish
Vanilla, hazelnut/nutty, sherry is at the beginning middle and end. The dryness is also sticky with boisterous grapey notes closing out the party. Short-Medium finish here.
