Description

One of the best-known names in Speyside, the distillery was founded in 1859 by George Smith and remained family-owned until the 1970s when acquired by Seagram. It is today the crown jewel of the Pernod Ricard portfolio and one of the best-selling single malt brands globally.

Nose
Rich combination of nutty oloroso sherry and wood, with a nice dose of spice - a bit of anise, light nutmeg, a touch of cinnamon. A little earthy, a touch of leather.
Palate
Leathery and woody, with some nutty sherry notes. Rich and mouth-coating, white pepper. Slight apple note and a trace of orange.
Finish
Warm, leathery again, woody; drying in the mouth. A bit of waxy apple character as it dries, which goes more towards wood. Slightly astringent but not disagreeably so.
