Description

The Glenrothes 25 Year Old single malt is crafted from a significant amount of first-fill American and European oak casks that have been seasoned with sherry, offering a luxuriously rich, fruity, and sweetly nutty flavor profile. This expression, matured for a quarter of a century, comes under the expert supervision of Glenrothes master whisky maker Laura Rampling, with her handwritten tasting notes featured on the label. It is bottled at 43% ABV and is non-chill filtered with no added coloring.

Nose
Ripe peaches, liquid caramel, and zesty orange peel. An aroma rich with nutty sweetness and marzipan, complemented by gentle, fragrant notes of cedar wood, coriander seed, and just a hint of jasmine. Overripe fruit (peach, apricot, papaya) dominates early on, evolving to juicy orange. Black walnut, almond, and vanilla extract evoke a creamsicle quality. Voluptuous, dark, brooding fruit with treacle and apple blossom. Delicate meadow-fresh greenness leads to summer fruits, soft pear, red apples, vanilla, and cream, with deeper honey, milk chocolate, dried red fruits, toasted hazelnuts, baking spices, and a sprig of mint.
Palate
Creamy vanilla, ripe stone fruit, and orange oil, infused with toasted almonds. Swiss milk chocolate, delicate oak notes, and a lingering sweet spice. Full and silky mouthfeel with dark chocolate, blackcurrant jam, and black liquorice. Creamy, like orange peel expressed across sweetened condensed milk. Rich and borderline syrupy, with a sweet, orange-forward dram gradually becoming oaky. Nuts and vanilla extract are present, with tart and tangy notes across the midpalate, dipping into orange marmalade with flecks of baking spice. Develops towards orange oil and orange zest with a touch of dry European oak and soft, welcoming tannins, and impressions of warm pastry.
Finish
Rich and sweet with a silky nuttiness and persisting fragrance. A nice peppery note with good floral undertones. Deceptively long, with tangy orange marmalade fading into tannin and light leather, followed by a line of candy lemon peel providing a sweet and sour epilogue.
