Description

This release of Hazelburn 21-year-old was matured in a combination of 80% bourbon casks, 10% sherry casks, and 10% port casks. Hazelburn is a revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co who produce three single malt styles there: Springbank, Longrow, and the triple-distilled, unpeated Hazelburn. This 2023 edition is bottled at 43.2% ABV.

Nose
Notes of leather-bound books, bung cloth, and dunnage warehouses are followed by sweeter characteristics of treacle, caramel, and bramble. Soft minerals, crushed mint, orange peels, nectarines, and red fruits like cherries and raspberries are also present.
Palate
A buttery mouthfeel with distinct mineral touches, marshmallow, and candy floss leading into a velvety mid-palate of vanilla and toasted almonds. Earthy notes, subtle oak spice, and hints of cocoa powder and cappuccino.
Finish
Medium length with gentle salinity, a soft bitterness, and herbs. Lingering notes of cocoa powder, cappuccino, and mint.
