This inaugural Hazelburn 21-year-old was vatted from 70% sherry and 30% bourbon casks. A revered single malt distillery in Campbeltown that has operated since 1828. It is today owned by J&A Mitchell & Co who produce three single malt styles there. Nose
Notes of leather bound books, bung cloth and dunnage warehouses are followed by sweeter characteristics of treacle, caramel and bramble. Some gentle orchard fruit, pear, green apple, and soft honeyed malt.
Palate
Marshmallow and candy floss, with a syrupy mouthfeel and subtle mineral note. The earthy tone from the nose carries through. Medium-full and richly textured with caramel and dark berry bramble.
Finish
Notes of cocoa powder, cappuccino and mint linger. Long and poised with dry oak tannin and a soft salty edge.
