Nose
a well balanced and approachable profile, with butterscotch, popcorn and coconut shavings up front, there's also a pleasing lack of aggression from the alcohol, despite the high ABV. Continues with candy floss, some cooking oils and toasted marshmallow. Water brings a more nuanced aroma profile, with softer notes of sandalwood and meadow flowers.
Palate
classical 'early landed' bourbon profile, with familiar impressions of varnish and glue, followed by burnt orange peel, liquorice root and gently drying wood spices. Some specific notes of pine wood resins, orange cough syrup and tea tree oil. Water releases more oiliness but also more wood spice and firmer cereal notes. A feeling of rye-driven spiciness in the mouth now.
Finish
good length. Robust spices lingering with more bitter orange notes, hardwood resins and liquorice.
