The original production facility of Heaven Hill Distilleries, located in Bardstown, Kentucky. It was founded by the Shapria brothers in 1935 and operated for much of the 20th century until it was lost in a devastating fire in 1996. Dark amber. Quite dry and woody with hints of hickory, candied fruit and some lemony rye zestiness.
Palate
Sweet smouldering hickory notes to start. Some burnt sugar/treacle mid-palate before a bite of rye freshens it up-fairly high wood.
Finish
Ripe, full with some smoked tea. Wood.
