Description

A blend of old malt & light whiskies of smooth & distinctive character. The character of Hewitts Whiskey makes it ideal in the preparation of Irish Coffee and Hot Irish whiskey. It was first launched in 1960 by Cork Distilleries Co. and was discontinued in 2004 by Irish Distillers. The last incarnation is a blend of Bushmills and Midleton malt, as well as some grain. Initially, it was a peated blend but was later changed to an unpeated blend after the 1966 merger that formed Irish Distillers.

Nose
A big, intense heavy malt-rich nose with the cleanest of sherry backgrounds. Dark cherries and ripe plums.
Palate
Intriguingly deep; packed with grapey fruitiness. The malt clings to the mouth; the body is oily and full. A much lighter grain note thins it slightly.
Finish
Custard-cream sweetness gives way to drier grains plus some juniper on the very end.
