Description

This Highland Park Vintage 1986 Single Cask #2794 is a unique single malt Scotch from the renowned Highland Park distillery in Orkney, Scotland. Distilled on November 13, 1986, and bottled in 2006, this 20-year-old whisky was matured in a first-fill sherry butt, cask number 2794. It was released as a limited edition of only 648 bottles at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV. The label features tasting notes and information from the then distillery manager, Russell Anderson. Highland Park is known for its lightly peated style, using local Orkney peat with a heather character.

Smokey and sweet with hints of raisins and spices, vanilla fudge, gooseberries, heather honey, lemon balm, wax, olive oil, limes, wet pebbles, and dried hay.
Palate
Sweet honey and lemonade, sugared grapefruit, marzipan, soft spices, liquorice, grassy notes, waxy, oily, white pepper, preserved lemons, gentle ashes, tobacco leaves, mushrooms, subtle oak spices, menthol, delicate fruits (tangerine, Galia melon, pears), dark, dry sherry notes with plums, spices, and dark chocolate, with some hint of leather.
Finish
Long, slightly earthy/peaty, still quite sweet with some herbal accents, medium to long, somewhat herbaceous, mineral touches and earthy peat, long and leathery, with a touch of tobacco, rich smoky fruit long finish.
