Description

A former malt distillery in the Speyside region that sadly spent as much time in mothballs as it did distilling. It longest operational period was under ownership of the Distillers Company. It was demolished by Pernod Ricard in 2013 and Dalmunach was built on the site in its place. * *

Nose
a full nose, rather aromatic, with malty notes, vanilla, fruits (especially apple and orange) and a dash of honey. A fine layer of fresh herbs and oak. A few mineral notes as well.
Palate
nice interplay of soft syrupy fruits (vaguely tropical, but fading quickly) with lots of spices (ginger, pepper) and an obvious bitterness (Seville oranges and pine resin).
Finish
medium long on liquorice, grass and oak.
