Description
A short-lived malt distillery that was built within the Dumbarton grain complex by Hiram Walker & Sons in 1938. Its primary purpose was to provide fillings for the Ballantine's brand, however it was deemed surplus to requirements by Allied Distillers, who decommissioned it in 1991. The distillery was closed in 1991 and demolished in 2002/2005. This 15-year-old single malt was distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2003 by Cadenhead's as part of their Authentic Collection. It was matured in a single oak cask and bottled at cask strength of 58.1% ABV, with an outturn of 294 bottles. Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottling company in Scotland and one of the earliest and foremost advocates for the single malt.
