Description

The Isle of Raasay Dùn Cana First Edition is a limited release single malt Scotch whisky, named after Dùn Cana, the highest point on the Isle of Raasay. It is a blend of peated and unpeated spirit, initially matured in first-fill ex-rye casks from Woodford Reserve, followed by a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry quarter casks from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin. Bottled at 52% ABV, it is natural in color and non-chill filtered.

Rich dried fruits, dark chocolate, spicy rye, toasted almonds, and subtle maritime influences, with notes of bonfire smoke, oily walnuts, Christmas cake, red apple peel, vanilla, fizzy cranberry, red wine, blackberry jam, tart strawberry, and a slowly growing peat with charcoal notes.
Palate
Complex layers of sweet Oloroso sherry, caramelized orange peel, warming rye spices, toffee, dried figs, and a touch of sea salt. It offers dark chocolate, sultanas, gingerbread, aromatic woodsmoke, caramelised nuts, red berries, strong orange notes, cranberry sauce, tannins, Christmas spice, cinnamon, charcoal, slate, and oily brine.
Finish
Long and satisfying with lingering dried fruit sweetness from PX casks, complemented by warming spices, subtle peaty undertones, dates, nutmeg, plums, raspberry, cinnamon spice, and a fine smoky haze.
