Description

Introducing the Marsala Cask Limited Release, the first-ever Marsala cask-matured single malt from the Isle of Raasay Distillery. This limited edition combines peated and unpeated spirit, distilled May-July 2021 and bottled July 2025 at 50.7% ABV. It was fully matured in rare ex-Frazzitta Marsala Vergine barriques from Sicily, seasoned with bone-dry Marsala wine for up to 30 years. This lightly peated whisky (8-10ppm) is non-chill filtered and of natural color, offering a unique confluence of Sicilian wine heritage and modern Scottish whisky craftsmanship. Only 12,300 bottles are available worldwide.

The stewed apple and sweet pear give this a clear fruit-led centre, while the light smoke and dry, peppery finish pull it in a heavier direction. There’s plenty to describe, though it sounds less bright and crisp than the styles I usually lean toward.
