Palate: Strong hit of vanilla and caramel, light fruitiness (apple, pear, lemon), strong rye spices (cinnamon, cloves, ginger, black pepper), brown sugar, butterscotch, toffee, toasted rye bread, white pepper, apricot, and honeycomb.
Finish: Medium-long, surprisingly dry initially with some oaky bitterness, persistent fruity sweetness, soft rye spices, baking spices, tobacco, maple butter, cedar, and a minty, coppery tang.

The appealing tension here is between the sweet, grain-led palate and the firmer rye spice. Toasted rye bread gives the grain character a clear place, while vanilla, caramel and brown sugar bring a softer counterpoint. The finish sounds more challenging at first, with dryness and oaky bitterness, but persistent fruit sweetness and soft spice keep it connected to the palate. A layered, warmly spiced Canadian whisky, with enough contrast to make the details interesting.
