Description

Jim Beam Double Oak is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that undergoes a unique double maturation process. It is first aged for the traditional four years in new, freshly charred American oak barrels. Following this, the bourbon is transferred to a second set of new, freshly charred American White Oak barrels for additional aging 'to taste.' This secondary barreling intensifies the interaction with the oak, resulting in a deeper level of spiced oakiness and rich caramel flavors, creating a unique and smooth bourbon experience.

Nose
Rich notes of caramel and vanilla with hints of toasted wood, often accompanied by a classic Jim Beam peanut scent, leather, nutmeg, and barrel char. Some detect green apples, wet rock, butterscotch, corn, and a nutty funk.
Palate
Sweet vanilla and caramel lead, followed by pronounced oak, roasted nuts, dried cherry and apricot, cinnamon, clove, and licorice. There can be notes of mint, caraway seed, roasted grains, light spice, and peppercorns. Some reviewers note a thinner mouthfeel.
Finish
Medium to long, with lingering oak, cinnamon red hot candies, and often a sweet, charred oak profile. Some detect a bitter note, dry oak, black peppercorn spice, vanilla, toasted oak, and baking spice.
