John Barr is a blended Scotch whisky, known for its smooth and accessible character. It was created in the 1970s by DCL to fill a market gap after Johnnie Walker Red Label was withdrawn from the UK market. Sweet vanilla, honey, baked apple, subtle chocolate, and a hint of fresh bread or gingerbread. Licorice-infused smoke, a slight touch of ethanol, vanilla ice cream, menthol, ripe pears, gala apples and white pepper.
Palate
Smooth and mellow, with flavors of vanilla, caramel, ripe apricot, toffee, raisins, and sometimes a whisper of oak spice or a faint peaty smoke. Light, chocolatey smoke with peppery spice, anise, ginger, heather, banana peels and a note of white rabbit candies.
Finish
Mouthwatering, with a touch of oak and vanilla, leaving a satisfying lingering sweetness. Rich and sweet.
