Description
John Power & Son Gold Label is a classic Irish blended whiskey with a rich history dating back to 1791 when James Power founded the John's Lane Distillery in Dublin. The brand was a pioneer, being the first Irish distiller to bottle its own whiskey in 1886, distinguishing its 'Gold Label' from whiskeys bottled by independent bonders. This particular bottling is believed to be from the 1970s or 1980s. While originally a single pot still whiskey, the Gold Label is now a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys, triple distilled and matured in American oak casks. Production moved to the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork after the John's Lane Distillery closed in 1975. It is known for its bold, spicy character and honeyed sweetness.
