Description

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Legendary Eight is a special edition blended Scotch whisky released in 2020 to celebrate the brand's 200th anniversary. It is crafted from rare whiskies sourced from only eight legendary distilleries that were operational when John Walker began his journey in 1820. These include four long-closed "ghost" distilleries—Brora, Cambus, Carsebridge, and Port Dundas—along with active distilleries such as Oban, Blair Athol, Lagavulin, and Teaninich. This limited production blend is a testament to the skill of Master Blender Jim Beveridge OBE, offering a rich and complex profile.

Nose
Rich with layers of brown sugars, soft fruit (pineapple, mango, ripe orchard apple, green apple, stone fruit, peaches, mandarins), sweet wood, orange oil, lemon zest, and cinnamon spice. There are also delicate coastal smoke, hints of molasses, soft peat, briny saltiness, honey, and floral notes.
Palate
A velvety smooth and wonderfully sweet experience with notes of stone fruits, stewing apples, cocoa, dried tropical fruits (sultanas, raisins), crumbly brown sugar, caramel, and toffee. Hints of green apple, subtle zest, tangy ginger, herbal tea, old woody notes, heather, earthy smoke, citrus peels, light grainy edge, baked apple crumble, salted butter, and hedgerow fruits (blackberries) are also present, sometimes with a savoury meaty note.
Finish
A warming, gentle smoke deepens the flavour, leading to a soft and lightly peppered finish. It is satisfying and long, with wood spice, malt, a bittersweet quality, sweet blackcurrant cough sweets, ground pepper, and light honey and vanilla notes.
