Description

Alexander Walker II was a master blender like his father and his grandfather before him, who devoted his life to making exceptional whiskies. In 1920, he received a knighthood from King George V for his services to the nation. John Walker & Sons XR 21 was created to honour this very special occasion. Inspired by Sir Alexander's own hand-written notes, it is blended from the exclusive Johnnie Walker reserve of rare whiskies.

Nose
Delicate and complex with notes of honey, vanilla, raisins, candied orange peel, and subtle florals like jasmine. Underlying tones of fudge, toffee, spiced apple, smoky oak, and a whisper of smoke, sometimes with hints of cream, canolli, sweet yeast, nutmeg, and toasted brioche.
Palate
Rich, smooth, and balanced with sweet caramel, vanilla, and vibrant honey. Flavors of ripe stone fruits (peach, apricot, plums), citrus zest (orange, lemon peels), and roasted nuts. Hints of dark chocolate, subtle spice (cinnamon, gingerbread), musky earth, and a gentle peat or smoky malt.
Finish
Long, smooth, and elegant with lingering notes of warm oak, honey, and delicate spices. Often described as soothing, complex, and sometimes with a charred oakiness, dried herbs, dark chocolate, or a surprising hint of peat.
