Description

The John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2017 Edition, titled 'Mastery of Oak,' is the fourth annual release in the Private Collection series. This limited edition Blended Scotch Whisky explores the influence of oak casks on whisky, showcasing the brand's unique style through a blend of rare and experimental whiskies. Master Blender Jim Beveridge and blender Aimée Gibson crafted this expression using three distinct vattings: malt and grain whiskies matured in first-fill American oak, Highland and Speyside single malts from refill casks, and whiskies from experimental casks with various char profiles and some 'salt cured' casks. A global release of 5,588 individually numbered bottles.

Rich and lightly sweet with orchard-fruit notes, liquorice, cedar, tobacco, orange peel, ginger, mixed berries, warming oak, juicy raisins, sultanas, a touch of rum spice, and chocolate-y caramel.
Finish
Medium in length with dry spices (clove and ginger), leather, Christmas-y spices, and a hint of floral sweetness, leading to a long silky smooth finish with rich vanilla.
