Description

This limited bottling is part of a series of multi-vintage Karuizawa from the distillery's final years of production, each bottled at cask strength and labelled with a different image from the Fugaku Sanjurokkei or 36 Views of Mount Fuji print series. The series of Japanese woodblock prints were created by artist Katsushika Hokusai in the 1830's, and proved so popular that an additional 10 views were added. The whisky is a blend of 1999 and 2000 vintages.

Nose
Rich sherry, dark fruits, citrus peel, warm spices, and caramel. Alluring, ripe Honeycrisp apples, apple pie with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, cherry jam in the distance.
Palate
Bold with blackcurrant, plum, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and oak spice. Medium viscosity, cinnamon apples, stewed ginger, rancio, old leather bound books, a touch of dark chocolate bitterness.
Finish
Long and warming with lingering fruits, cardamom, and a hint of smoke. Fading ginger, baked apples, gentle malt, complex rancio fade, gentle dark chocolate.
