Description

A collection of eight single cask Karuizawa bottlings, all distilled in 1981. The were produced in 2016 and 2017 by Eric Huang's Hua Yang International Exhibition. A legendary name in Japanese whisky that developed significant cult status due to many exceptional releases of its whisky following its closure in 2000. Nose
Very savory nose with a big hint of soot & smoke, hint of menthol, then become more complex. There are also hints of very dark Dundee cake, molasses, dried autumn leaves and very old, soft leather.
Palate
Massive entry, as you'd expect from its strength. It is slightly dusty, and earthy, rich but again tending towards savory rather than sweet, although the dried fruits and molasses are definitely there as well. In addition, there is dry smoke from the nose and some prunes.
Finish
Big and long, and very warming.
