- Nose
- Tropical fruit, soursop, passion fruit, black cherries, steamed lotus leaf, damp earth. Rum-forward, burnt pineapple, orange marmalade, polished aromatic woods, sweet molasses, cinnamon spice. Incense-like, autumnal, sometimes feral. Tamarind, aged soy, prune, tea, dried black fruits and soot, all bound together by some strange lacquer. Dried apricots, fig syrup, mango, cinnamon, heather honey, ginger, furniture polish, blood oranges, marmalade, membrillo, oriental pastry, old herbal tea leaves, eucalyptus, cigar boxes.
- Palate
- Thick, powerful, and strangely scented. Earthy, with depths of wood. Rum-forward. Burnt pineapple, orange marmalade, polished aromatic woods, sweet molasses, cinnamon spice. The “classic Karuizawa” profile was there too... rubber, cigar box, a touch of burnt tar. Black peppercorn, rye spice, herbal honey, herbal tea, mint, eucalyptus, black tea, cigar leaves. Fresher fruits, blood orange, marmalade, kumquat, mango, grapefruit (including peels). Precious, oriental wood, cedar, smoky sandalwood. Earthy, with refreshing resinous touches and liquorice.
- Finish
- Long and dark, on black tea and bitter chocolate, with some charred echoes, menthol, a hoppy note and a bit of incense.
