Description

Kavalan Distillery was founded in 2005 on an idea of taking Scottish methods of making whisky and importing that expertise to Taiwan for a wholly-owned Taiwanese distillery. After a great deal of research investment, the fruits of their labour were finally brought to the world with the first spirit being produced in March of the following year. The distillery is situated in the north-east of Taiwan. The Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is fully matured in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and recharred, bringing out fruity vanilla notes and a complex, multi-dimensional background of pepper, spice, dates, and other fruits.

A rich fusion of vanilla and caramelized sugars with dark chocolate on top. Ripe melon and mango together with kiwi and a delicate blend of citrus fruits burst. Pepper is also present in the background.
Palate
Clean and complex flavours embodying all that is best in the finest malt whiskies. Flavors of caramel, plum/red fruit, spice, and dark chocolate.
Finish
Long aftertaste with notes of spiced figs, milk chocolate, dark chocolate with cinnamon, leather, cigar box, and maple brown sugar. Fruity, with a distinctively grape note, and a touch of anise.
