Description

Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique is a single malt whisky fully matured in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and re-charred (STR process). This method extracts fruity vanilla notes from the wood, overlaid on a complex background of pepper, spice, dates, ripe melon, mango, kiwi, and citrus fruits. Taiwan's hot and humid climate accelerates the maturation process, leading to an intensely flavored and complex spirit. It was named the World's Best Single Malt Whisky in 2015.

Rich fusion of vanilla and caramelized sugars with dark chocolate, ripe melon, mango, kiwi, citrus fruits, and pepper. Dark fruit, plum, and a red wine mustiness with oaky tannins.
Palate
Rich, smooth, and creamy with dark and dried red fruits, sultanas, plum, raisins, figs, dark chocolate, caramel, and rich spices like cinnamon and clove. Candied ginger and a grapey sweetness are also present.
Finish
Long and complex with dark and sweet fruits, caramelized sugars, dark chocolate, and almond. Lingering red fruit and fortified wine notes fade into salted dark chocolate and white pepper spice, with a touch of anise and a dry, tannic quality.
