Description

Kilchoman 100% Islay 10th Edition is a unique single malt produced entirely on Islay, from barley to bottle. Distilled from Optic and Publican barley varieties grown at Kilchoman in 2007, 2009, and 2010, it was then malted onsite and peated using local Islay peat. This 10th annual edition was matured for a minimum of 9 years in a combination of 39 bourbon barrels and 2 oloroso sherry butts. It was bottled in 2020 at 50% ABV, with a limited release of 12,400 bottles.

Nose
Floral notes with citrus sweetness, light peat smoke and apricots. Also, complex, fresh, with sweet smoke, sharp lemon juice, malted vanilla ice cream, artificial banana sweetener, delicate sea breeze and wild flowers.
Palate
Prunes, cinnamon and cooked apples & pears with hints of fresh smoke. Oily, pleasant mouthfeel, classic ex-bourbon profile, extra creamy malt, restrained vanilla, unripe green banana. Sweetness of exotic fruits (khaki, kiwi, tangerine, banana), ashy smoke, green wood, wet stones, cookie crumbles, white chocolate, vanilla pudding with apple compote.
Finish
Waves of mildly spiced peat smoke, lasting sweetness and rich sherry notes. Long and elegant, earthy peat that's sweet then tart, dusty barn air, dim grain note and stale rock sugar. Also, marzipan cookies, toffee apples, milk chocolate, juicy grapes, sweet clover, sugared tea and crunchy malt.
