Kilchoman, which came online in 2005, was the first distillery to be built on Islay for 124 years - and it has garnered a sterling reputation in its short lifespan. Glazed cereals, orange liqueur, apricot tart with buttery shortcrust, deep chemical smokiness, bonfire of fall leaves, white grape juice, cigarette ashes, peppercorns, fresh French bread, vanilla, allspice, buttery and creamy with lingering peat smoke.
Palate
Full bodied, apricots, butter, honey, resin, eucalyptus, salted hazelnuts, caramel, ink, smoke, sugar cookies, vanilla, baking spices, pepper, sweet and rounded with bitter chocolate, liquorice and integrated peat smoke.
Finish
Not too long, hint of peat, liquorous sweetness, medium long, wood smoke and ash, vanilla pudding, cinnamon, oak.
