Description

Kininvie, a distillery sharing a site with Balvenie, has historically produced malt whisky primarily for William Grant's blends like Monkey Shoulder. This 23-year-old release, Batch #3, is a limited and scarce bottling from the 1991 distillation, matured in a combination of 80% American hogsheads and 20% sherry casks. It was bottled at 42.6% ABV in 35cl bottles, with each bottle individually numbered. The whisky is noted for being uncoloured and unchill-filtered. Nose
Light, fresh, and clean with notes of honeydew melon, gooseberry, biscuity malt, and old oak furniture. Hints of honey, lemon, vanilla, and candied oranges are also present, sometimes with pineapple and peaches.
Palate
Vibrant and zesty, with honeyed barley, vanilla, and white chocolate. Flavors of Williams pear, anise, cinnamon, and warming wood spices develop, alongside sweet fruits, custard, and a tingly, smooth mouthfeel.
Finish
Short, fresh, and citrusy, with whispers of vanilla, clementine, and dry oak. Malty cereal, woodspice, peppery notes, caramel, and milk chocolate can also be found.
