Description

A Japanese single malt whisky from Mars Shinshu Distillery, part of the 'Nature of Shinshu' series. This third release, named Shinanotanpopo (Shinano Dandelion), is a vatting of precious 20-year-old whisky from sherry casks with younger whisky matured in Bourbon and American white oak casks. Nose
Aroma is very pleasant, with notes of vanilla, tropical fruit bubblegum, dried tea leaves, gradual estery aromas of apple and pear, birch tree, and light smoke. [4, 7, 12]
Palate
Sweet oak, custard, barley sugar, apple pie, ripe banana, apricot, and marmalade. Spices come to the fore – toasted caramel, honey, ginger – mouth coating, with apple skins, spiced apple, smoke, leather, and an oak note present – a sweetness punches through at the end. [2, 7]
Finish
Lengthy and smooth, with banana peel, ginger, allspice, lasting bitter spiciness accompanying sweetness, and dark chocolate and butterscotch. [4, 7, 19]
