As might be expected of a Finnish business, the idea of the Kyro Distillery was conceived in a sauna by a group of friends drinking rye whisky. They questioned why nobody was making such a product in Finland and the project developed from there. Kyrö Wood Smoke is made from 100% malted Finnish whole-grain rye. Following an old northern tradition, the malt is alder smoked in a 100-year-old barn. The whisky is double pot-distilled and matured in ex-bourbon, French oak, and new American white oak barrels, resulting in intense pepperiness and sweet notes of caramel and vanilla lifted by crisp alder smoke.
