Description

A malt distillery that was operational for less than a decade. It was built in 1966 by William Grant & Sons and was located within its Girvan grain complex until a need for expansion saw it dismantled again in 1975. Bottlings of its single malt are incredibly rare. This 27-year-old Lowland single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 1973 and bottled in 2000 as a limited edition, marking the first single cask bottlings in Ladyburn's history. [3, 4, 5, 7, 11]

Nose
Elegant and refined with ripe peach, honey, soft vanilla and delicate floral notes. Extremely ripe fruit: Mango, tangerine, Asian pear, strawberries, sweetened passionfruit. Stroopwaffel, caramel, buttered rum, and Toblerone bars. Strong fresh flowers. A little bit of menthol and eucalyptus, coconut water, dripping bromeliads, and some petrichor. Fresh laundry, cedar shavings, even a distant hint of smoke. [2, 4, 6, 9]
Palate
Rich and rounded with dried fruits, toffee, caramel, roasted nuts and subtle spice. Medium texture. Arrives with mango, strawberry shortcake, milk chocolate, and caramel. Develops herbal and sweet, with light oak, cool spices (nutmeg, cardamom), fresh flowers, then the fatty-rich white chocolate, toasted coconut, and browned butter. There's a hint of dirtiness here, with a bit of a wet hay note. An avalanche of fruit: grapefruit (the pink, sweeter variety), lovely strawberry, peach, orange, apple, blackcurrant. Something of a dessert wine. [2, 4, 6, 9]
Finish
Long, silky and complex with lingering fruitiness and a touch of oak. Sweet and effervescent. Light oak and nutmeg. Crusty raisin challah. Orange, lime, strawberry, honeycomb. A little grassy again. Lingering fattiness. Cedar and a hint of licorice. [2, 4, 6, 9]
