Launched in 1997, the 'Distillers Edition' range from Diageo sees the Classic Malts enhanced in carefully chosen wine casks. This Lagavulin 1999 Distillers Edition, bottled in 2015, is a 16-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky that was double matured, including a finishing period in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. This process imparts a rich fruity and syrupy profile, balancing the classic intense peat and smoke expected from Lagavulin.
