Nose
Sweet with dried apricots, creme brulee, brown sugar, and a lot of peat and smoke, often described as ashy. Coastal and maritime notes of salt seaspray, seaweed, tar, and fish on a bonfire. Hints of oranges, toasted wood, spearmint, cinnamon, minerals, earth, nuts, chocolate, raisins, dark honey, orange peel, leathery smoke, ham, toffee, maple syrup, graphite, and pencil lead.
Palate
Rich and mouth-coating, with a balance of sweet and smoky. Notes of pepper, oak, and peat, along with astringency. Sweet, slightly honeyed, with balanced smoky peat, fruit, and salt. Warm, damp smoke, seawater, dry wood, pine needles, raisins, dark chocolate, hazelnut, coffee, cranberry, and tar.
Finish
Long, with lingering smoke and ash. Flavors of tobacco, cigar smoke, oak, and spices. Salty and peaty, with dark chocolate, bacon, herbs, grass, and maple syrup. Charred, caramelized meat notes.
