Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2024 is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, part of Diageo's annual Special Releases collection. This expression is matured in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon and refill casks, offering a balance of bold smoky character with inviting sweetness. It presents notes of smouldering bonfire, carbolic soap, rowan jelly, vanilla, toffee, and coconut, leading to a long, powerfully smoky finish with a twist of warming spice. dry and gentle, with freshness , clean phenols and subtle fruit aromas such as rowan berry jelly and unripe red currants, plus a hint of ash - in the background soft toffee and Vanilla
Palate
creamy and mouth-filling in texture, at first very sweet with notes of fresh vanilla and toffee, then quickly drying, with hints of salt, coconut and controlled smokiness - with a little water increase
Finish
long and very smoky, as the smokiness comes through much more strongly. Lightly drying, with an appetising salty aftertaste. [6, 11]
