Description
Like most Islay malts, Lagavulin is definitely not for the faint hearted. The distillery was officially founded in 1816, and produces malt with a signature style of earthy smoke and savoury undertones. This Lagavulin 2006 Distillers Edition follows a two-stage maturation process, initially in refill American and European oak casks, followed by a secondary maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for a finishing period that integrates raisiny sweetness into the malt. This creates a complex profile that balances intensity with sweetness. It is part of an annual limited-edition series that differentiates itself from the core range.
