Description

First launched in 1984, this particular bottling was said to be Prince Charles' favourite. It was replaced in the core range by an 18-year-old expression in 2009. Laphroaig is a world-renowned Islay distillery, famous for its distinctive character of its heavily peated spirit. It was built in 1815 by Alexander and Donald Johnston. This 15-year-old expression is described as something to savour, with a mild, soft, hazy peat smoke intermixed with a pleasantly sweet aroma. The taste offers oak sweetness, vanilla, warm peat smoke topnotes, with flavours reminiscent of sea salt and toasted almonds. A faint hint of the sea can be detected, with a long, lingering and mellow finish.
