Description

Sold in America during prohibition for medical purposes, due to the Surgeon General refusing to believe it could be drunk for pleasure, Laphroaig has been awarded a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles in 1994. The biggest selling single malt from Islay, Laphroaig is one of the last distilleries using its own floor maltings. A special annual release for those lovers of the beloved 15 year old which is matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and is an exclusive for Friends of Laphroaig. [1, 5, 6]

Nose
Sweet vanilla and subtle spice, with notes of fresh nutmeg and toasted almonds. Hints of lemon, smoke, tar, black pepper, and a medicinal quality, along with creamy vanilla fudge, salt, and fresh kelp. [2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10]
Palate
Oily and easy to drink, with vanilla toffee sweetness, pepper, citrus, and licorice root. A wave of creamy, earthy peat, some spearmint, and salted caramel. [7, 8, 9, 10]
Finish
Medium to long, with a distinct peaty feeling, smoke, lemon, black pepper, and seawater. Minerality increases with sea salt and oily traces, drying slightly with ashy smoke and driftwood embers. [3, 7, 8, 10]
