Nose
Mild ash and a bit of medicinal peat. Coastal air, brine, and seafood. A thick sweetness: cherries and syrup. Musty peatiness, plenty of sea salt, sherry and just a hint of smoky bacon.
Palate
Nice balance of fruity, honey-like tones with sea salt, peat smoke, and charred meatiness. A bit peppery with mild oak spice. A bit of plums as it lingers. Starts with strong ocean notes of salt and tide pools before giving way to pleasantly mature Islay peat. A little time releases sherry notes and dried fruit, mild anise and smoked tea.
Finish
Rich, sweet, earthy, and smoky finish. A bit salty. Warm and smooth, smoky and mildly medicinal, with tobacco leaf and salt.
