Description

Laphroaig Oak Select is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Islay distillery, known for its signature peated character. It is crafted from a blend of whiskies matured in a variety of casks, including Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, first-fill bourbon casks, quarter casks, and finished in virgin American oak barrels. This multi-cask maturation results in a more mellow and approachable expression of Laphroaig, balancing its characteristic peat smoke with notes of red fruits, vanilla, and oak spice.

Nose
Peat first, then ripe red fruits from the PX and Oloroso casks. A hint of dryness next from the American oak with a long lingering florally finish - Marzipan and even limes at the end.
Palate
This full bodied whisky is initially sweet up front, then the classic dry, peaty, ashy flavours come bounding in. Notes of lemon, green apples, mint, and darker baking spice develop further on.
Finish
Medium length, peat remaining in sight until it's over. A lovely rich finish arising from the rich fruits of the European casks, with traditional medicinal notes appearing and lingering for a short while.
