Description

The Second Witch is part of Livingstone's Macbeth Collection Act Two, a series of 42 whiskies inspired by Shakespeare's tragedy. This 26-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, distilled at an Islay distillery (Laphroaig), is a limited release of 750 bottles. It was matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry butts and first-fill bourbon barrels, offering a character that encapsulates the medicinal qualities of Islay malts with notes of charcoal smoke, rich vanilla, and dark dried fruits.

Nose
Dry coastal peat drifts in first. More smoke than fire, more ember than engine. Seaweed, kelp and a hint of iodine. Dried apricots, orange peel, salted honey and old leather-bound books.
Palate
Oily texture, rich but controlled. Smoke is gentle, refined, not aggressive, wrapped around dark toffee, berries, marzipan, charred oak, and a dusting of cocoa. Mid-palate carries savory cues: oyster liquor, wet driftwood, black pepper. Faint herbal bitterness, almost like wormwood or eucalyptus leaf.
Finish
Long, persistent and coastal. Soot and ash linger with sea spray, walnut skins and a final echo of citrus bitters.
